I am a patent attorney focusing on biotechnology, chemical, pharmaceutical and medical device patent procurement and prosecution. I am Executive Director, IP at Seagen. I have a Bachelors in Biochemistry from Gonzaga University and a Masters in Chemistry from the University of Oregon. I received my J.D. Law degree from the University of Washington School of Law in 2004.

Andy’s practice encompasses all aspects of patent law, with a focus on litigation and USPTO post-grant review proceedings. He has successfully argued before the Federal Circuit, the Patent Trials and Appeal Board (PTAB), and before federal district courts at Markman and summary judgment hearings.
A registered patent attorney and former circuit designer, Andy also has prosecuted patents on technologies including electronic design automation (EDA), telecommunications, network infrastructure, media CODECs, and control systems. He also has extensive experience working with foreign counsel on global patent litigation strategies, and participated in patent trials
in both Germany and the U.K.
Andy joined Klarquist in 2011 as a lateral associate and became partner in 2017.

Emily Peyser partners with clients to offer strategic and comprehensive intellectual property strategies to help build, monetize, and protect their patent and trademark portfolios. She places a high value on working closely with clients to establish long term relationships and a deep understanding of their business objectives. Emily advises her clients at every stage in the lifecycle of their intellectual property assets with an emphasis on planning, procurement of U.S. and foreign patents, opinions, enforcement and licensing.
Rose serves as the global head of the Legal Intellectual Property (IP) group at Expedia with responsibility for a team handling all IP matters across Expedia and its various brands.
Prior to coming to Expedia, Rose served as Global Trademark Counsel managing the Cummins global trademark portfolio, which including responsibilities for advising on marketing and advertising matters and management of the anticounterfeit program.
Rose also provided IP support for multiple different Cummins business units, including support for the global patent portfolio development for those business units.
Rose is experienced in advising on intellectual property strategies for and implementation of complex transactions.
Prior to her time at Cummins, Rose was a federal employee for fifteen (15) years at the U.S. Department of Homeland Security where she established an Intellectual Property Law Practice Group within the Office of the General Counsel. Most recently, Rose was the Chief IP Counsel for DHS’s Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency (CISA), where she serves as the intellectual property subject matter expert for and on behalf of CISA.
Rose studied at George Washington University, New York University School of Law and Manhattanville College. She has a Master of Law (LL.M.) in Intellectual Property, a Juris Doctor (J.D.), and Bachelor of Arts Degree (B.A.). She is a registered patent attorney with a discipline in Physics.
Alexey Titov is an Intellectual Property Director at Stryker, a leading medical device company. His primary responsibilities include defining IP strategy, architecting patent development processes to maximize the business value of patent portfolio, and overseeing patent preparation and prosecution activities. Prior to joining Stryker, Alexey worked at a variety of organizations focusing on intellectual property including a management consulting firm, a university technology transfer office, and a technology development company. Alexey has contributed a chapter to a book “Intellectual Property in Academia: A Practical Guide for Scientists and Engineers,” is an inventor on 13 U.S. issued patents, and an author of several publications in the field of high energy physics. He holds a Ph.D. in physics from the Rockefeller University.
Jeffrey Waters concentrates his practice on drafting and prosecuting patents for mechanical and electrical innovations. In particular, he has experience with patent issues relating to GPS, Internet and e-commerce, semiconductor devices and processing methods, and telecommunications. While Jeff’s practice focuses on patent drafting and prosecution, he also has experience with patent litigation, having defended multiple patent infringement lawsuits. Jeff also has experience in conducting due diligence investigations and drafting opinions.
Dr. Bickel is a visionary, growth-oriented genomics executive with a solid track record of success in leading strategic business plan development, commercialization strategy, program implementation, and IP portfolio development for disruptive technologies and products. She has had tremendous success at building and prosecuting strategic, high-value patent portfolios, achieving high yield ROI and aggressive growth through intellectual property assets, including in-licensing, out-licensing, M&A, and litigation efforts. Currently, Dr. Bickel works at TwinStrand Biosciences, a genomics company in Seattle, WA specializing in high accuracy clinical diagnostics and other innovative tools addressing unmet needs along the cancer prevention and treatment continuum.
Nicholas Kim is a Senior Corporate Counsel at Microsoft Corporation and focuses on IP litigation. Mr. Kim joined Microsoft from the U.S. Department of Justice’s Civil Division, where he was a trial attorney in the Intellectual Property Section. Before that, Mr. Kim was a patent attorney in private practice in Washington, DC.
R. Wilson “Trey” Powers III, Ph.D., is a director in Sterne Kessler’s Trial & Appellate and Biotechnology & Chemical Practice Groups. Trey also co-chairs the firm’s PTAB Trials practice. He has served as counsel on over 85 inter partes review and post grant review proceedings and has extensive experience litigating before the Patent Trial and Appeal Board. Trey also works with clients on a variety of other matters including district court litigation, intellectual property strategic advice, licensing, US International Trade Commission investigations under §337, evaluating patent portfolios, drafting patent applications, and prosecuting interferences. He also manages the preparation of invalidity, non-infringement, and freedom-to-operate opinions. Trey has significant technical experience in the fields of aging, surgery, stem cell biology, microbiology, metabolic engineering, synthetic biology, and other areas of biotechnology.
Patrick Njeim is a former engineer passionate about patents and patent law. Patrick is the managing partner of Kilpatrick’s Seattle office and a partner in the firm’s Electrical Engineering & Software Team. Patrick focuses on patent preparation and prosecution, due diligence matters, infringement and validity opinions, portfolio analysis, patent litigation, and post grant proceedings. He has helped inventors obtain their first patents and large technology companies complete million-dollar patent portfolio acquisitions. He represents clients in a wide range of technology areas, including artificial intelligence, robotics, and autonomous vehicles, among others. Patrick is also passionate about helping students to navigate the patent landscape. He is an adjunct Professor of Law at the University of Washington School of Law, teaching advanced courses in intellectual property.
Ben is a registered patent attorney and focuses on complex litigation and technology counseling.
Ben’s litigation experience includes managing complex civil litigation cases of all types, including post grant IP matters, patent, unfair competition, trademark and trade dress, copyright, property disputes, and breach of contract cases. He also has experience in cases involving preliminary injunctive relief.
His technology practice involves litigation and also counseling small and large companies on all types issues impacting their companies, including guiding IP prosecution efforts. He has counseled individuals and companies in services industries, manufacturing, telecommunications, software, food and consumables, petroleum refining, internet and media, and transportation.
Ben also maintains an active pro bono practice. His pro bono work includes counseling and litigation for veterans denied disability benefits, prisoners, home associations, housing disputes, and is part of the pro bono counsel for the Rare Genomics Institute.
Colin is an experienced patent litigator who, for nearly 20 years, has been winning cases in district courts, the PTAB, and the Federal Circuit. Colin has been recognized for his accomplishments by Super Lawyers and the Benchmark Litigation Guide, was named to the shortlist for 2023 “Litigator of the Year – Washington State” by Managing IP, named one of “The World’s Leading Patent Professionals” for Litigation in the 2023 Patent 1000 guide by Intellectual Asset Management (IAM) magazine, and selected by peers for inclusion in The Best Lawyers in America® (2024) for IP Litigation. Colin has served as lead counsel in dozens of IPR proceedings and was recognized as a Top 50 Best Performing IPR attorney for Petitioners in Patexia’s PTAB Intelligence (2023) report.
David Sanker is a Mathematician, a Software Engineer, and a Patent Attorney. David earned his Ph.D. in Mathematics from Berkeley, and returned to Berkeley 15 years later for his law degree after careers in academia and production software development. As a Patent Attorney at Morgan Lewis, David was a patent litigator for four years and a patent practitioner for more than 13 years. As a patent practitioner, David works with clients, inventors, the U.S. Patent Office, and associates throughout the world to build strong IP protection. This has included a lot of work with AI, and David continues to speak and write about AI. David also has an entrepreneurial spirit, launching his own small patent firm SankerIP in February 2024. In this way, David is able to provide high-quality work without the very high billing rates and conflicts of large law firms.
Shawn focuses his practice on IP procurement, management, defense, and enforcement, which involves developing strategies for securing IP as valuable assets that increase corporate revenue and can be leveraged in corporate transactions and agreements. Shawn’s career started with a leading Department of Defense contractor where he designed and tested digital circuits and boards, which included programming circuit chips. Following this experience, he began his career in IP as a patent examiner at the US Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO), and later while in law school moved into private practice as a patent agent.
Ben Herbert is a partner with Miller Barondess, LLP and a trial lawyer specializing in patent infringement and trade secret misappropriation litigation. He is co-leader of the firm’s intellectual property practice.
Ben has a record of success representing plaintiffs in IP trials, having been a key member of three trial teams that secured $1.5+ billion in jury verdicts in the span of two years.
